For residential projects in Playa del Carmen, Cancún and the Riviera Maya. Siamo reviews each project’s location and scope to confirm which service is suitable.
What to prepare before your first conversation
You do not need every answer or a finished design brief. Start with what you already know about your home and note what still needs to be decided.
This is a suggested starting point for the conversation, rather than a mandatory checklist or a condition of working with Siamo.
Choose by what you want to delegate, wherever you live
The choice between full-service interior design and virtual design is not determined by whether you live in Mexico or abroad. The key question is who will put the design into practice in your home.
| What you need | A service to explore |
|---|---|
| You want the studio’s support coordinating design, furniture selection, purchases and installation. | Full-service interior design. Siamo reviews the location and scope to confirm whether the service fits your project. |
| You want a professional design plan and prefer to manage purchases and implementation yourself. | Virtual interior design. You are responsible for putting the plan into practice. |
The same distinction applies if you manage your property from another country: living abroad does not automatically make virtual design the right service.
Separate the decisions you want to make from the tasks you want to manage
Before choosing a service, use these three questions to explain the support you are looking for:
- Do I need help defining how the home will look and function, or do I already have a design to put into practice?
- Do I want to review proposals and approve choices, or also find stores, compare products and follow up on purchases?
- Do I want the studio’s support coordinating installation in the home, or do I prefer to implement the design plan myself?
Your answers help frame a conversation about scope. They do not replace a proposal or confirm that every task is included in your project.
How to review proposals without following every task
At Siamo, the initial questionnaire helps the studio understand your project and prepare an estimate before the video call. The conversation is an opportunity to explain the phases and review examples of deliverables and previous projects.
During the design stage, a mood board helps you review the atmosphere, materials and how they work together. Proposals are presented on video calls, while documents and selections are shared through Drive so you can leave comments and confirm choices. 3D modelling helps you visualise the spaces before purchasing or fabrication.
When reviewing a proposal, separate what you like, what concerns you and what you would like to understand better. This can make your feedback easier to discuss; the review process and arrangements for your project are confirmed with the studio.
Plan for what you need to use the home, too
Furnishing and equipping a home involves more than decoration. Siamo works with a customisable list of appliances, household items and amenities, with items added or removed according to your needs.
Start by separating what you already have, what is missing and what depends on a design decision. Distinguishing everyday needs from style preferences helps you explain your priorities without committing to a shopping list too early.
Siamo’s purchasing proposals let you review stores, links and price options. Use them to understand the choices and discuss your project’s scope; this guide does not set inclusions or financial terms.
Mayan Sanctuary: how design decisions connect

Mayan Sanctuary · Senderos Mayakoba, Playa del Carmen
At Mayan Sanctuary, a three-level family home in Senderos Mayakoba, Playa del Carmen, Siamo joined the project while the house was still under construction. Alongside furniture and decor selection, the studio designed the kitchen and laundry room and selected finishes that had not yet been purchased.
The proposals were developed with the homeowners and passed to the builder for implementation. The team also coordinated electrical and lighting adjustments in some areas with the construction electrician.
The project shows how choices about finishes, furniture and lighting came together in this home. Another project may have a different scope.
